Universal Truth

What is truth?

acceptable truth by anyone you met in any part of the world. Do we know exactly which one is the right and wrong? Who is entitled to make the clause? Is it a person, some groups of people, society, country, or...God?

We use our mind, logic, experience, facts, opinioin, every resources we have to make a decision. To have an opinion on particular matter. To decide whether an act or something is right or wrong. We have our own definition of truth, based on ourselves, subjective. It is heavily depends on many factors which is unique to each individuals. Maybe someone experienced a bad childhood, then his/her thought of a family is a wrong thing to start with. Maybe in some cultures, drinking alcohol is common, so this is considered as “not prohibited” assumptions and rules or “right”. Many caluses made by ourselves which combined as social truth. Yet again, are those the truth?

Back again to the question on “Who”. Who is entitled to rule and decide which right and wrong? If it is human, then what about subjectivity that will always be there? Should a judge consider every single crime (or what we thought so) based on the “individual truth” of the perpetrator? Ofcourse we have somekind of universally agreed “somekind of ethic, norm, value as if in default we just know, that stealing is bad-a crime, killing innocent people is a crime, etc. We have that same radar that gave us somekind of warning to ourselves. Prohibiting ourselves not to do such behaviours which led to immoral, unethical actions. That initial radar called fitrah. Everyone’s fitrah is to be a good person, to do the right thing, to behave morally, ethically, live a peaceful life. That is what everyone, in the end, trying to achieve. Yet, many things happened along the way. Bad experiences, social thought, rules, tend to leaning toward biased truth. Just because some people have bad judgement of lives, their rules become the “local-universal” rules. The fitrah no longer stays in someones’ heart. They perceive world as something else: enjoyment, wealth, romance, power, etc. While human’s fitra is something bigger than that.

So what does fitrah have something to do with current lives? We all need money, love, pleasure, comfortable life, do we have to throw it all away? NO. There are so many halal ways to achieve those. Those goals are not probihited. World is not designed for us to suffer. We should be enjoying our time in the world, as its scenery and good feelings are the preview of heaven. And its bad times, are preview of hell. We are introduced into religion, from our family, society. But we also keep seeking for the truth. Why am I here. What am I doing here. Where am I going after this. And those questions also  affect decisions we made in our life, perception of right and wrong. Seeking the universal truly truth.

Source of Truth

In religion, we are taught many rules, truths, stories based on facts, etc. These builds knowledge, then start developing wisdom. As in Islam it is prohibited to eat pork, so it is consered as “wrong” to eat the meat, even go near them. Lately science research proved that pig contains disease and no such benefit or goodness we can take from the pig. The point is, pig is not good for us, human, even it is “bad” or so “wrong” to eat them, due the the health issues. This bad impact, how do we know? We proved them. We are always trying to prove the truth behind the religion, the absolute rules, from it source, Qur’an. The Holy Book says don’t go near zina, it didn’t say that commiting adultery is completely prohibited, it even said that sexual relationship between halal “marriage couple” is a blessing. It is really a noble thing to do. But once the prerequisite not met, it became a prohibition. So, the wrong thing is, not the action, but the situation, condition, way of doing it, intention of committing the action, and so many other things. Maybe it seems hard and complicated, but actually, it goes along with our fitrah, with our basic nature. We all want to have a family, we want to have someone to accompany us for the rest of our life. We need security, comfortable living. And the way Islam presents and showing how to achieve those goals, are absolutely logically driven and agreed from the bottom of our heart. Maybe now we raise our eyebrow, why dating before marriage not allowed? Everyone is doing it, why is it a sin? “It feels good anyway, why not?” some people questioned. Now, there are 2 reasonings. First, Why yes? Why should you force something to be lawful for you? Is it that hard to have a marriage? To make a commitment, to be loyal to one partner, to take care and nurture each other and taking responsibility in buildng family? Why choose the other way around?. Second,
